MiMap
Meaningful Interactions Map. Travel diaries for urban explorations: a book that walks with whoever crosses the city and turns it into a map.
The project
The city as a diary
Spaces built for consumption, ever more functional routes, images of the city made to be sold: we use the city, but we do not always feel it is ours. And when a place stops being lived in, we also stop caring for it.
MiMap proposes mapping from below, made by those who cross the city every day. Not a ready-made picture, but a travel diary: prompts, questions and open spaces that guide the user in building sensory, emotional and relational maps.
Each map is the trace of a personal experience that, once shared, helps us recognise the city and feel it is ours again. MiMap was born inside MAP and borrows its typefaces and colours.
